I've had bad luck with Penhalgon's. I loved Amaranthine.... but not on me. I ended up giving it away. Ditto Ostara.
The only scent I've ever liked by them was Elixir, which has been discontinued.
Still, I took the plunge and got two recent releases, which were on sale. Bought them both blind. As Sawira and Alizaren.
Well, they're both kind of forgettable. Musty smelling on me. Of the two I probably prefer Alizaren, but I doubt either will get much wear. Presents for my nephews?

Elephants and Daffodils
Already into the new year and spending on perfume.
I was intrigued by the recent releases from Perfumes Berdoues. I like tea-based fragrances, so blindly bought Assam of India, 100 ml. It's ok, doesn't thrill me. It may work better in warmer weather. It is only a cologne after all.
The bottle is great however, plastered with elephants.
I also got a second elephant-themed perfume, Maria Candida Gentile Elephant and Roses, 30 ml. To be honest, I cannot smell a thing! This is my first perfume from Maria Candida Gentile.
These two were actually ordered at the end of last year.
Penhaligon's was having a sale, so I ordered a few. Endymion was not on sale, but I bought a small bottle which was not so expensive (30 ml). I haven't been able to try it extensively yet.
Moving on with Romantic poets, I got Ostara, 100 ml. A host of golden daffodils!
Victoria at Bois de Jasmin gave this five stars, which is unusual for her. I'm not quite feeling it. I'm wearing it now, and it smells a bit sour on me. I really loved L'Artisan's Fleur de Narcisse, and I guess I was expecting it to smell like that.
Finally, I got Charenton Macerations Christopher Street, 30 ml. Love it. I like also that it is wrapped in a piece of leather scented with the perfume! Not quite sure how it connects with Stonewall, even though founder Douglas Bender explains it on their site.

Elixir
I've meant to get this for a while but it is totally the wrong season. It was on sale.

re-Giveaway
I gave Janet the Amaranthine and Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune -- which didn't smell like cat pee on her at all.
I had a bug infestation problem with my condo, and I am in the midst of cleaning up after the extermination. This is all very stressful.

Gave Away....
Yesterday I gave away my bottles of...
Amaranthine and Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune to Gisela at work. She liked them both. She was confused why I was giving them away. I told her that I really liked Amaranthine, but that it just didn't work on me. The Guerlain, well, it smells like urine on me. She didn't get that on her. She may pay me for them.
Mugler Cologne to Brian at work. It was actually the Open Sky untitled one that I got. Anyway. I hate it. Brian said he really liked it.
My 50 ml girly bottle of Mandragore and my 15 ml mini of Myrrhe Ardente to Janet. She likes them, but it is a shame now that it is finally getting warm, because these work better in the cold. I still have bottles of these in my collection, though.
I'm kind of sad to see Amaranthine go, but, really, I would never wear it. If Gisela didn't like it, I would have given it to Janet to see if she would have liked it.
I may be going to Japan on Saturday. I have a week off.

Penhaligon's Amaranthine
Min New York was having a sale, so I ordered a bottle of Penhaligon's Elixir. Unfortunately, I got an email a day later, saying they coudn't ship it. I called the store, and was told that it was out of stock, and that they were no longer going to be carrying Penhaligon's. As I could substitute something else for the Elixir, I asked for Amaranthine, which I do really like, and it was available. My bottle just arrived today. Although I do really like Amaranthine, it may be a bit too feminine for me to pull off, so I may give it to someone for Christmas. I have almost a month to decide.
I must say, I am not nuts about Penhaligon's packaging, with those bows n all.
