I finally ordered a bottle of Dior Eau Sauvage, which arrived yesterday. I guess it has been reformulated.  I do remember smelling oakmoss, which is gone now, sadly.  I have the flanker, Eau Sauvage Fraîcheur Cuir, which I think I like more than this version..... we shall see after more wearings.

I also got Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau.  It is probably better for cooler weather.  The licorice really stands out in this weather. Reminds me of Douce Amère.

Costes

I'm pretty much a fan-boy of almost anything and everything by Olivia Giacobetti.  True, En Passant really isn't me and Drôle de Rose might be a bit too girly, but I tend to like her aesthetic and have many of her fragrances.  It's a kind of shame that she has not been producing much as of late.

Anyway, I have had samples of Costes for years.  Perfume Posse posted a discount code for Beauty Habit for 20% off, so I felt the time was ripe to get a bottle.  It's nice for the summer.  Giacobetti's work tends to be pretty light.  Costes is very light and does not have much longevity.

The bottle is a beaut, to boot.

My bottle is a bit darker red, and the logo is so dark it's almost illegible.  But the shape is the same with the bakelite cap.

Beauty Habit included a $20 off coupon, which is only valid for another week.  Because Costes is so light, I was thinking maybe I should get some bath products, which may extend its presence.  Or, maybe I'll get Costes 2.

LAVS

I ended up buying UNUM's LAVS from Twisted Lily, the only store it is offered at in the US right now.  It is a very nice incense scent, although I am not sure about all the effusive reviews it's getting.  It reminds me of something else, I'm not quite sure of.  Something I have? Serge's L'Incendiaire?  My sample has run out, so I'll have to go to Barneys to compare.  Also, it's Latin "lavs", as in "laus", as in praise. Not "lavs" as in lavatories.  Wonder if that would impact sales here.

It's also shoe sales season, so I've gotten a few pairs:

This pair, from Rag & Bone.  I'm kinda surprised I ordered another pair from them, as the last pair was kind of ill-fitting. Tight in the toes.

This pair, from Christopher Kane. Again, my last pair, sandals, was very narrow, but these seem better.

Finally, these pair of Kenzos, which I never have problems with.

Spring, Maybe, is Coming

Weather is sorta warming up.

I got a bottle of KenzoAir Intense.  I have the original KenzoAir, but have yet to compare the two.

The bottle is bluer and not as clouded as the original.

I also got these shoes (Ann Demeulemeester, on sale, naturally):

Barneys is having their bag event this week.  I am supposed to go tomorrow with Carmon, my building manager.  If she can't go, I may just go Friday.  Stay tuned!

Got Some Things....

Following my success with Chaos and Black Cashmere, I decided to buy a bottle, blind, of Donna Karan's Fuel For Men.

Well, there you go with blind buys.  I am not so nuts about it.  It reminds me, a lot, of Baldessarini, which I do not like at all. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

I also got another pair of shoes.

They're nice, but I was expecting them to be yellower. They are comfortable, though.

Sales! Sales! Sales!

Barneys annual sale is on.  I got a lot of really good deals last year.   There are some things I'd like to get, and they are either too pricey still or out of my size.  The prices do tend to gradually drop.  So I'm watching everything pretty much every day.

Other sites seem to be having big sales as well.  I got these shoes from Saks:

They're Adidas partnered with Opening Ceremony.   I wore them to work today! For new shoes they were pretty comfortable.

EDIT:  I liked these so much I ordered another pair, in red.  The price had gone down further at Saks, too!

Iris Nazarena

Barneys had their semiannual bag event, which ended yesterday  I met Sara for lunch, and she  brought her friend Shannon again... so the three of us headed over to Barneys.

Sara bought makeup... I got Aedes de Venustas Iris Nazarena.

A few weeks ago, I got these shoes.  I've been kind of embarrassed about getting them.   They were super expensive, although what I paid was $600 less than their selling price. I'm also not sure about when I would have the chance of wearing them.   Well, here they are:

I guess Alexander McQueen put out a bunch of things with this motif for last fall.  I like the suits with the stained glass.  I'm not sure about wearing a whole outfit with the design, though.  For me, just the shoes are good.. I wouldn't want to overdo it.  The women's dresses and purses, though look nice.  A scarf might work, too, for either men or women.  But I am happy with the shoes.

When I first saw the shoes, I kept thinking of a scene in the movie, Performance,  towards the beginning, when James Fox, as a gangster, is trying to rent a room in reclusive rock star Mick Jagger's house to escape police and other gangsters.  Mick Jagger is saying he doesn't want any tenants.  James Fox is smoking a cigarette, and an ash falls to the floor, atop an oriental rug.  Mick tells Fox, that rug is 200 years old.  Fox  just says, "Valuable antique, is it?"  Anyway, when I saw the shoes, the  image from the film of the ashes falling to the rug kept coming to my head.

Black Friday

Well, I had ordered it earlier but it arrived on Black Friday:  Donna Karan Chaos.  I'm wearing it now!

Reminds me a lot of Idole de Lubin.  Or I suppose that should be the other way around.

Some presents:  Person of Interest Season 2 for Dawn for Christmas.  For Junior (real name Florencio) who sits next to me at work, the below Skagen Hiromichi Konno watch.  I have the watch already, and Junior said at one point he liked it.  He buys me lunch all the time, so I figure a Christmas present is not out of line.  On sale at Amazon.

Fight Club in Blu Ray was only like $3, so I got that.

And finally, today, I got yet another pair of Palladiums, the below Pallabrouse Baggy Leather 2! On sale at Amazon.  I hope the color really is like this!

I had had another pair of shoes, a pair of Lanvin sneakers that were more than half off at Barneys.  I paid for them, got a confirmation, but later got a retraction.  It was probably the last pair, and someone else had ordered them at the same time.  I really like Lanvin sneakers, but they are ridiculously priced.  These are the missed opportunity:

OK, I got these, which are pretty much the same shoe as the Puma AMQDek Mid II, only the AMQDek Lo II.  I was waiting for them to drop to a certain price, and, well, they did.

Well, well

I had some kind o training session for work downtown yesterday so figured I would drop in Barneys on the way home, since I hadn't been there in months.  Neither Andy nor Ashley were there so I should have just left.  I ended up talking with this young'un named Ricky who I have never met before, and this woman who for some reason I can't remember her name.  She kept trying to get me to buy Byredo's 1996 or whatever it's called.  I kept insisting the picture of the baby was important and she wouldn't believe me.  She finally looked it up online and found out what that was all about.  Anyway, I had fun.  Ricky was fun to talk with.

They had Comme des Garçons Stephen Jones which I had never seen there before, and that is what I ended up walking out of there with.

I had also ordered a pair of Havaianas espadrilles, which were on sale for $19.  I figured I could have a fresh pair for next year.

While I was at it I got the Laundress/Le Labo Rose 31 laundry detergent.  I thought I would give it a go. I'll fill you in once I try it. $45 for a teeny bottle of detergent is kind of ridiculous, though.  We'll see how long it lasts.

Bargains...?

Neiman's sent me a $25 off coupon since I seemed to be such a potential spendthrift.  Anyway, it expires July 26.  I have been combing Neiman's web site for something to buy (fragrances were excluded) and I could find NOTHING.  I would have liked some new pants, but all they seemed to sell were skinny jeans, which I hate.

Today I decided I would use the coupon to get a shoe tree.  Seems sensible, ne?  As I was paging through the shoe selection looking for the shoe tree, I came across... THESE:

Anyway, they are Pumas, "AMQ Deck Mid II Print Sneaker, North Sea" is what they are called (I guess "North Sea" is the color).  They were on sale, in my size, and with $25 off and free shipping, they weren't that bad.  I'm not entirely nuts about mid- to hi-tops, but I really liked the look of them.  AMQ stands for Alexander McQueen, so there must have been some collaboration going on there.  I've had good luck with Pumas in the past, so I imagine they will be comfortable.
